All most all the web browsers have supported the Java browser plugin over a decade, but it poses many security issues. It is very often targeted and misused by the hackers. So, finally Oracle took a stand to terminate it. Seem’s like the browser makers have already given up on the plugin and they do not provide much support for it and this triggered Oracle’s decision, to remove the Java Browser Plug in.
The company said that the browser merchants have reduced the supports for the plugins and the application developers who depend on the Java plugin will now have to find an alternative to it.

Increased use of Mobile devices…
Oracle is also believed to have said that plugins are not important in a world that is mobile, in a paper released to the developers.
Makes perfect sense, don’t they? More and more people, prefer things on the go today, they browse the internet from their mobile devices. As a result the browser makers started focusing more on the features that are common for both the desktop and mobile versions and the plugins are not one amongst these features, as they are not supported by the mobile devices. They do not include any standards based plugin supports in their product.
According to Jim MecGregor, they were great once when people first tried to enable multimedia in the websites, but the way plugins are programmed now, they are more of a threat.
Why is it vulnerable?
Plugins are just like the browser extensions, but with a little more permission and liberty. They were created to view non html contents like PDF through the browser. Same is the case with Java plugin it allows the Java code to be executed outside the browser and displays it on the browser. Java had a long history of security bugs and when compared with browsers, it becomes even more vulnerable.
