IT Spending Forecast 2015

Gartner’s analysts presented the outlook for global IT spending in 2015 broken out by devices, data center systems, software, IT services and telecommunications services. This forecast showcased the future of digital business and how it would change the IT landscape.

Gartner predicts that the market for corporate software will be the fastest-growing segment of the IT market. Worldwide corporate software spending is forecast to total $335 billion in 2015, a 5.5 percent increase from 2014.

Telecommunications services represent the largest segment of annual IT spending and overall, telecom are projected to grow just 0.7 percent to $1.6 billion in 2015. Worldwide spending on devices such as smartphone is forecast to reach $732 billion in 2015, up 5.1 percent from 2014. The Devices market has seen price competition from IOS devices (high-end) as well as low-end Android devices in emerging markets.

The mid-range smartphone market will be ultimately narrow. Data center systems spending is projected to reach $143 billion in 2015 (1.8 percent increase). Gartner expects that Data Centers will contain one-third of world’s processing power by 2025. IT spending in 2015 is forecast to grow by 2.4% to $3.8 billion in 2015, down from the 3.9% previous forecast. Worldwide IT spending globally is likely to increase general in 2015, according to industry researcher Gartner.
