Bring your own device (BYOD) is a mega-trend that have a far-reaching influence on the entire security industry. In the light of new research to how employees work, Intel Security and MSI Research carried out a global study which informed the working behavior of 2,500 professionals around the world, and attitude towards data protection and information security. It found that: More than three-quarters of the professionals (78%) use their own devices for work-related tasks An even greater number (79%) declared that they conduct personal activities on the company owns devices. 40% of employees work from home or wherever it’s needed. 65% respondents believed that IT is responsible for protecting all important data on work devices. 77% of respondents feel confident their employer is taking all necessary steps to protect personal data In general 61% of activity at work is personal, private or confidential. 35% of respondents used a company laptop to connect to public Wi-Fi outside of the office.
