The UAE is moving B2B and B2G invoicing to a mandatory electronic system. Invoices will no longer be simple PDFs sent by email: they will be validated and transmitted through an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) connected to the national platform.
Key dates
- 30 October 2026: businesses with annual turnover of AED 50 million or more must appoint an ASP. The Ministry of Finance extended this deadline from 31 July 2026 in May.
- 1 January 2027: mandatory go-live for this group. This date did not change.
- 1 July 2027: mandatory go-live for businesses below AED 50 million. The provider appointment deadline for them is reported as 31 March 2027.
- 1 October 2027: go-live for government entities.
According to Gulf News, only around 50 providers are currently accredited or pre-approved as ASPs nationwide. Advisers quoted by the paper recommend treating 30 October as final: “Implementation isn’t a single event; it runs from data mapping and ERP integration through to testing and go-live.”
What to check in your company now
- Your accounting system. Does it export structured invoice data, or only PDFs? Older or heavily customised systems may need an update or a connector.
- Master data. TRNs of customers and suppliers, product codes, VAT categories. Errors that a person used to fix by hand will now be rejected automatically.
- Who owns the process. Finance, IT and the ASP need one coordinator and a test plan before go-live.
B2C invoices are not covered yet, but the Ministry has signalled they will be addressed at a later stage.
